I never listen to the radio. I got an awesome IPod cord installed in my car last year and since then, the radio became obsolete. A few weeks ago I left my IPod behind and remembered I have a radio in my car. I decided to scan through the stations and see what I could find. I kept thinking I would find nothing good and that this entire task would be wasted. All of a sudden something happened. Wilco was playing on the radio? I glared down to see what station I stumbled upon and it was 93.3.
I am a huge Wilco fan and in my 21 years have never heard them on the radio. Surely this radio station knew good music. I decided to program it in my car and keep listening. Death Cab for Cutie, Spoon, Vampire Weekend, Alpha Rev, and many other indie bands kept coming on. This could not be real. I was completely floored.
93.3 plays a great variety of local Austin music, indie favorites, and random rock hits. I am beyond impressed with the music selection. If you are ever in need of a good listen in your car, check out this station.

Netflix has definitely made it’s mark in the film industry. The online movie rental company now has over 16.9 million users. That’s a lot of movie watching.
Recently, Netflix has decided to raise the prices of it’s movie services. In addition, Netflix also introduced their new “instant-play” package for members.
Let’s be honest, who is actually surprised by the price increases? I am not. Netflix has reached a new magnitude in popularity and now is the time to cash in.
The new “instant-play” package lets users have access to the instant queue movies which can be watched anywhere, anytime. Previous packages always required the member to rent a certain amount of movies. With thousands of movies available online, for 7.99 a month, this new package is great for students and people on a budget.
All other Netflix packages will increase by $1. It has yet to be determined how this price increase will change Netflix, but for now many experts are assuming people will jump down to the 7.99 instant play package.

What better gift to ask for this holiday season than a pair of Facebook tennis shoes? I found these online a few days ago and could not stop laughing. Part of me really wants a pair just for kicks, but I don’t think i could will myself to wear these in public.
‘It’s the most, wonderful time, of the year…’
Traditional Christmas music phrases like that have been running through my mind for the past week (by week I mean month). Christmas is a heart-warming time for family, friends, shopping, and an overall happy experience. Musically speaking, Christmas is the best time of the year. I have compiled a top-ten list of my favorite Christmas songs - in no particular order.
1. Mariah Carey - “All I want for Christmas is You”
- Okay, this is probably one of the best Christmas songs ever. I also think is Mariah Carey’s most popular song. Who can’t enjoy an upbeat, pop remix of a classic song

2. Frank Sinatra - “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”
- No song warms my heart more than Sinatra’s version of this song. His deep, soothing voice makes you feel so happy.

3. Faith Hill - “Where Are You Christmas?”
- As sang by Cindy Lou Hoo in How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Faith Hill does a fantastic job at this song. It makes me tear up a bit.

4. Wham! - “Last Christmas”
- While this song is really depressing, I love it. 80’s British beats meet my favorite holiday? I’ll take it.

5. N’Sync - “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays”
- N’Sync is probably the most successful boy band to date and this song explains why. In high school we used to play this in the halls and rock out.

6. Nat King Cole - “The Christmas Song”
- All I need is a cup of hot chocolate and a foot of snow.

7. The Whispers - “This Christmas”
- This R&B cover of this song is great. It’s relaxing.

8. Eisley - “Oh Holy Night”
- Eisley is one of my favorite bands ever. Native Texans, this band of sisters does a great rendition of my FAVORITE Christmas song. I play this one of the piano on a daily basis

9. Frank Sinatra - “The Little Drummer Boy”
- Sadly I could not find a link for this song. I have the “Sinatra Christmas” album and it is one of the most powerful Christmas music experiences.
10. Otis Redding - “White Christmas”
- I was unable to find this song online, too. It is from Love Actually, so I am sure most of you have heard it. That movie and soundtrack is phenomenal.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
Facebook getting Skype? I can’t decide if I’m surprised.

This is pretty interesting. Cellphones run society.
People everywhere, and especially all over Texas, heard the tragic news about music legend Willie Nelson getting arrested for marijuana possession.
Earlier this week, Nelson’s tour bus was stopped in Sierra Blanca, TX - near the Mexico border. Originally, Nelson was charged with having 6 ounces of marijuana on board. I do not know the legal ethics behind drug charges, but I know it’s a felony and includes jail time.
Now sources are saying that Nelson only had 4 ounces on the bus, thus dropping the crime down to a misdemeanor. Nelson’s bail was set at 2,500 and now he is back on the road.

Rolling Stone quoted Nelson’s lawyer, Dick DeGuerin, on his opinion of border patrol cops. DeGuerin said, “I’ve had several cases from that checkpoint and they just use the opportunity to check out anybody they want to. If you have long hair, if you’re driving a van or it looks like you’re from California or you look like a hippie, they do profiling.”
If that’s the case, it’s a good thing Austin is 500 miles away from Sierra Blanca.
Something strange happened the other day. I looked at the Facebook chat area on the homepage and noticed that I didn’t see my friend’s faces anymore, but instead, a group of childhood cartoon pictures.
It didn’t take me long to realize that there had to be some sort of driving force behind this movement. Mashable wrote a great article about what is causing this spontaneous throwback movement.
An anonymous campaign to end violence against children started a domino effect on Facebook profile pictures. Although the source of the campaign is still unknown, it’s having a major effect on Facebook users.
Ironically, a few days earlier, I changed my picture to one of the infamous Pokemon, Pikachu. Perfect timing I suppose. Power Rangers, Doug, Rugrats, Looney Tunes, and other childhood characters have taken over Facebook. I can’t complain, though. I love seeing all the fun pictures and once again, it reaffirms how powerful social networking is.
Thousands, possibly millions, of people have joined on this anonymous bandwagon. I feel comfortable saying that most people aren’t aware of why the pictures are being changed, but did it because they saw someone else do it.

I too started seeing the same status that Mashable posted. Many of my friends have been posting about changing your picture to help end child violence. Even though the source is still unknown, it’s awesome that people can rally together for a good cause.
If you haven’t changed your picture, you better hurry. You have until Monday to get in on this mass Facebook movement.
THROWBACK!
Let’s be honest, who DIDN’T want this magazine when they were a kid? Watching these commercials was like pure torture. Luckily, my parents eventually caved in and got me a subscription.
This perfectly describes my life. I always use Twitter lingo in regular conversations and someone always look at me like I am crazy. Maybe I am?
